Founded in Montreal, Quebec, Canada on 03-03-03, Adam Atlas Attorney at Law is a boutique commercial law firm dedicated to top-tier personal service to clients.
The firm advises principally on matters of electronic transactions
and merchant transaction acquiring law. Corporate, commercial,
e-commerce, biometrics, ATM, SIM and RFID advice is also provided. Most of the clients of
the firm are electronic transaction businesses located in the United
States, including payment processors, banks and independent sales
organizations. The firm also advises on anti-trust and competition
law matters in payments and electronic transactions markets.
The firm is headed by Adam N. Atlas, B.A. Hon. (1993), B.C.L. (1997), LL. B. (1997). Born in 1971 in Kingston, Ontario, Canada, Atlas holds a Bachelor of Civil Law, Bachelor of Common Law and a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science, with Honors, all from McGill University. McGill's law school is the oldest in Canada in continuous operation and is known internationally for its bi-juridical program that combines instruction in the French Napoleonic civil law and the English common law. During a year on exchange from McGill, Atlas studied law at the National University of Singapore and traveled widely in Southeast Asia. Atlas was the class valedictorian on graduation from McGill Law in 1997. He has been a member of the Bar of the Province of Quebec (Canada) and the Bar of the State of New York (USA) since 1998. His other memberships include, the American Bar Association (ABA), the ABA Section of Science and Technology, the ABA E-Privacy Law Committee and various community philanthropic organizations. Atlas is the Legal Editor of The Green Sheet, the leading U.S. electronic transactions periodical, and the Editor in Chief of The Frontier Times Canada's Electronic Transactions Journal, the only electronic payments and merchant acquiring periodical in Canada.
Atlas articled with the international business law firm, Stikeman Elliott, in 1998, where he went on to practice corporate and commercial law for four years. During his practice with Stikeman Elliott, Atlas advised in Canada on large mergers and acquisition transactions, science and technology commercial contracts, competition law and venture capital financing principally for knowledge-based clients.
